Soft Point bullets are designed with an exposed soft lead core at the tip, so that upon impact with the target the bullet deforms or flattens out to retain energy and cause a larger wound canal. They tend to expand more slowly than a Hollow Point bullet and are used where deeper penetration and expansion are needed.
