The Peters cartridge company was founded in 1887 in Kings Mill, Ohio by Gershom Moore Peters. A manufacturer of gunpowder(Black Power) and ammunition, the company forged a solid reputation for innovative, high performance ammunition. Remington Arms purchased the Peters Cartridge Company in 1934 and became know as Remington-Peters for a time. In fact, many Remington shell heads are stamped with R-P to this day.
