Century Arms typically imports its Red Army Standard ammunition from Russia, and it accordingly has steel cases, Berdan primers, and magnetic bullets. It’s affordable ammo to be sure, but it’s neither permitted at many indoor ranges nor reloadable owing to its steel components.
But Red Army Standard Elite is a whole different story. This 9mm ammo hails from the Czech Republic, where it is loaded with new production brass cases and non-corrosive Boxer primers. That ticks off both of the boxes that handloaders like to see ticked off!
This round’s 124-grain bullet is another departure from what you’d typically get from Red Army Standard. It’s a nonmagnetic FMJ, with a solid copper alloy jacket rather than a bimetal one. It poses less risk of sparking and ricocheting than a bullet with steel in its jacket.
This 9mm cartridge’s supple brass case and clean-burning propellant work together to keep a firearm’s action freer of carbon fouling than steel-cased ammo.
This ammunition is new production, non-corrosive, in boxer-primed, reloadable brass cases.
